Materials & Care
Jewelry Care
Our jewelry is created to stand the test of time and be passed down to loved ones over the years. This is only possible through proper care so be sure to adhere to best practices for each individual piece depending on its materials.
Solid 10kt gold pieces won’t change color and are safe to wear at the beach or poolside.
Gemstone bead jewelry requires more particular care. Do not wear them in water and avoid applying skincare, hair products, and fragrance while wearing these pieces. Hand knotted jewelry can stretch so be sure to store them laying flat or in the felt pouch it arrived in. To clean, wipe your piece with a soft, dry cloth.
Solid 10kt Gold
Our European gold jewelry collection is all made of 10k which gives confidence in the purity and wearability of it, while remaining more affordable than higher karat gold.
To care for your gold jewelry, store them in the pouch with divider they arrived in to prevent scratching. You can also use warm soapy water to wash away any residue and help it shine bright again. Patina or fine scratches are inevitable on high polished surfaces and means your piece has been worn and loved!
14kt Gold Filled
Gold filled jewelry contains 5% gold by weight and therefore, withstands the elements and lasts much longer than gold plated pieces. With proper care, this jewelry can last a lifetime and be passed on as heirlooms. These items are usually stamped ‘GF’ or 1/20.
Our beaded gemstone pieces include gold filled clasps and connectors as this type of jewelry is typically worn in a different way (never in the water and usually more occasionally), however, should you prefer solid gold findings, we offer that as a customization as well.
Freshwater Pearl
We use natural, freshwater pearls in our designs, which provides exclusive characteristics to each piece. Pearls are more delicate than other materials and require more care. Do not wear them in water and avoid applying skincare, hair products, and fragrance while wearing freshwater pearls. Hand knotted jewelry can stretch so be sure to store them laying flat or in the felt pouch it arrived in. To clean, wipe your item with a soft, dry cloth. We always say, pearls are the first thing to take off when you get home and the last thing to put on before you leave the house!
Opal
We love the magical quality of opal and use them in many of our designs. They are a soft stone and are quite porous so be sure to keep them away from water.
Ethiopian Opals are “hydrophane” which means they thirst for water. If wet, they can absorb the water and lose their fire and change color temporarily until they dry.
Avoid applying skincare, hair products, and fragrance while wearing jewelry with opals. Hand knotted jewelry can stretch so be sure to store them laying flat or in the felt pouch it arrived in. To clean, wipe your item with a soft, dry cloth.
